If you look closely at the first frame you will see that the shutter blades have buckled. This was the point, in September of 2006 that the shutter finally failed on this camera (I purchased it broken on ebay, when I got it actually continued to work fine for 4 months).
Let me save you some stress. Don’t try to replace the shutter. Send it to canon and let them do it for $200. That is exactly what I did after this massive tear down and rebuild. They were really cool and even replaced some of the worn body parts for me. Came back good as new.
The next 45 frames will show you a glimpse of what you are going to need to do to reach the shutters. I did not actually replace it. That’s right, 114 steps front to back, to accomplish nothing.
